The number of Irish speakers is growing, but there is still a lack of opportunities to use the language naturally in daily life. We see our local authorities as the link that fills that gap – creating practical spaces for Irish in every public service. Through the lens of language innovation, our objective is to create replicable models that can be scaled across the country, creating real opportunities for the community to use Irish naturally.

Best Use of Technology & Innovation in Local Government
Gaeilge365 was shortlisted as one of the 5 most innovative projects in the country at the 2025 LAMA Awards.
By creating welcoming spaces where people can meet, chat and practise their Irish, this initiative helps build stronger, more connected communities while supporting the continued growth of Irish as a living language.
Over the past few months, 25 innovators from Dublin’s local authorities have been reimagining how the Irish language can drive our capital forward and their ideas will be showcased at the Festival of Possibilities on 4th March in Dublin City Hall. This is an initiative of Gaeilge365, driven by four Dublin local authorities.
