Gaeilge365 Privacy Notice
This Privacy notice explains how we collect, use, share and retain your personal data. It also outlines the legal basis for our processing and provides our contact details should you have any question.
Who Are We?
Gaeilge365 is an Irish-language innovation unit operating across Dublin’s four local authorities, in partnership with the Department of Rural and Community Development and Gaeltacht, to create 150,000 opportunities to speak Irish in Dublin by 2028 through council services.
Dublin City Council is the data controller for the personal data processed for Gaeilge365.
Reason for Processing Personal Data?
Your information is collected to process requests for the Gaeilge365 information and engagement service (including updates on Irish-language opportunities, interests and events).
What Information Do We Collect??
Information collected by us is limited to your name, email address, the local authority area in which you reside, and your Irish-language interests. This information is required to process your request for the Gaeilge365 information and engagement service.
The Legal Basis for Processing Personal Data?
The legal basis for processing your personal data is Consent Article 6(1)(a) of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), as the processing is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest and/or in the exercise of official authority vested in Dublin City Council, including in relation to the delivery of Gaeilge365 and our functions under the Official Languages Act 2003 (as amended) and local government legislation.
Sharing Personal Information?
Your personal data may be shared with authorised Gaeilge365 staff within Dublin’s four local authorities, where necessary for the administration and delivery of the Gaeilge365 service. In certain circumstances, where it relates to programmes and events administered by Conradh na Gaeilge, your name and email address may also be shared with Conradh na Gaeilge. We do not share your personal data with third parties for direct marketing purposes. We may also disclose personal data where required to do so by law.
We do not use your personal data for automated decision-making (including profiling) that produces legal effects concerning you or similarly significantly affects you.
Providing your personal data is not generally a statutory requirement; however, we require the minimum details set out above to process your request and provide the Gaeilge365 service. If you do not provide the required information, we may be unable to register you for updates or respond to your request adequately.
Retention Period?
We retain your personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purpose for which it is collected, i.e. to administer and deliver the Gaeilge365 information and engagement service. Your details will be retained until 2028 and will then be securely deleted or anonymised, unless a longer retention period is required by law or for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims.
