Binsí Comhrá is a community project to create informal Irish language spaces in Dublin and reduce urban loneliness. The idea came from a Dublin City Council employee who noticed that there was a lack of social spaces in the city where people could speak Irish comfortably and naturally.
It is planned to have 30+ benches installed around Dublin by summer 2026. The first bench was installed in Ballyfermot in October 2025. There are currently 10 benches in place with 11 more to come in the next few weeks.
An online map will also be created to guide people to the benches.
Binsí Comhrá is not just about benches; it is about spaces to promote the Irish language, build connections and build community trust through Irish.
