Binsí Comhrá is a community project to create informal Irish language spaces in Dublin and reduce urban loneliness. The idea came from a Dublin City Council engineer who noticed that there was a lack of social spaces in the city where people could speak Irish comfortably and naturally.
The first bench was designated in Ballyfermot in October 2025. Currently, there are 40+ benches located around Dublin and across the country by Dublin's Local AUthorities and the Office of Public Works.
Binsí Comhrá is not just about benches; it is about spaces to promote the Irish language, build connections and build community trust through Irish.
