Féile na bhFéidearachtaí showcases new ideas and opportunities for delivering public services through Irish.
Public thinking around Irish‑language services is often limited, with people typically imagining only transactional or official interactions. These are important, but the festival demonstrates that the possibilities are far broader when we look beyond those boundaries. When we consider expanded services — sports and youth clubs, cultural events, community arts and social projects — new opportunities emerge to embed Irish in everyday community life.
The festival provides a platform to model these solutions and to demonstrate how local services can evolve through more open, innovative approaches. The goal is to spark new ideas and encourage collaboration between authorities and community groups so that Irish is visible not only in transactional contexts but in daily activities that build long‑term relationships with the language.
Although the event required significant time and commitment, the investment proved worthwhile: new plans and ideas emerged from the community, opening pathways for more comprehensive Irish‑language public services. Our aim was clear — to re‑imagine what public services could look like when we think beyond transactions, creating a space where innovative solutions strengthen Irish as a community language.
In 2025, the event featured 40–50 stands, each presenting a project, initiative or practical solution. More than 1,200 people attended, engaged and contributed. A live designer captured ideas from the public throughout the day, producing a final graphic at the end of the event.
If you have a project or event that supports the language, get in touch to take part in future editions. We believe every profession has linguistic impact — from artists and engineers to community‑development officers and sports managers — and that Irish can be strengthened through everyday services and activities.
